I have a number of sbcglobal email addresses and it is usually only one or two of them that don't work. It's happened before, too, and is pretty annoying. All of sudden Apple OS/Mail app cannot get one of my email accounts online.

(I won't pretend to understand the details of what OAuth is). From what I read on their links, AT&T/Yahoo implemented 'Open Authentication' (OAuth) some time ago and Thunderbird isn't compatible with that authentication procedure. Yes, creating a secure mail key via the ATT.net web site did fix the problem.Interestingly, Thunderbird 'fixed itself' right before I implemented their suggestion - I opened Thunderbird on both my PCs to update to the new Secure Mail Key as my password, and before I did that, both Thunderbird accounts were working again.So apparently, the problem is related to what both sfhowes and christ1 said, but it must be a sporadic issue. I wonder if there's some incompatibility with the sbcglobal server.Thanks to both sfhowes and christ1.
